We love the Uckermark: On the left and right there is nothing but vast meadows, trees — and right in the middle of it all the Friedenfelde manor house. We — Annedore Streyl and Thomas Rieger — simply loved the setting. And so we embarked on the adventure of renovating this historic building ensemble from the 18th century.
In the 1970s, the manor house was to be demolished, but it was possible to place the historic building ensemble under monument protection and save it from demolition. This allows us to keep the story alive and renovate it with care and attention to detail.
Historic, sustainable and climate-friendly construction and sophisticated design were particularly important to us. The heating is provided by a heat pump powered by solar power; the house also has a biological sewage treatment plant. All walls are extensively plastered with breathable clay plaster and the outer wall with shell limestone. Our aim is to make the manor house as sustainable as possible in all areas.
